Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd

MASS Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) is fully owned by the Minister of Finance Incorporated and was set up to be the developer and asset owner of the Mass Rapid Transit project. The company was set up in September 2011 and took over the ownership of the project in October 2011 from Prasarana Malaysia Berhad.

MRT Corp’s responsibilities include monitoring and tracking of construction of all elevated structures, stations and depots of the MRT project. It also manages underground works, which involves tunnelling and construction of underground stations.

MRT Corp is also responsible for the contracts involved, the procurement process and dispute resolution, apart from ensuring the quality of delivery in terms of cost, scheduling and health, safety, security and environment requirements.

MRT Corp works hand-in-hand with other parties in the development of the project, which are MMC-Gamuda KVMRT (PDP) Sdn Bhd as the Project Delivery Partner for MRT Kajang Line (previously known as Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line) and MMC Gamuda KVMRT (PDP SSP) Sdn Bhd as the Turnkey Contractor for MRT Putrajaya Line (previously known as Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya Line), and the Agensi Pengangkutan Awam Darat (APAD) as supervising agency.

MRT Corp has set up a subsidiary, Malaysia Rapid Transit System Sdn Bhd (MRTS), to be the developer and owner of the civil infrastructure for the Malaysian section of the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link Project. The company was incorporated on 5 December 2019.

The civil infrastructure works for the RTS Link Project is expected to be completed by end 2024 with the full opening estimated to be by the end of 2026.
